Combination Method

At the Institute of Propulsion Technology of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, a combination method was developed, initially designed for the investigation of aircraft engines. This patented measuring method combines the two existing procedures DGV (Doppler Global Velocimetry) and FRS (Filtered Rayleigh Scattering) and opens up new opportunities for flow analysis. In cooperation with the DLR and under license, ILA now plans to develop a new measurement system for further applications.

Based on the combination method an extremely versatile measurement system should be developed, that utilizes the image and light guides technology (endoscopy) to determine the physical quantities such as velocity, temperature, pressure and density in challenging environments. The required optical access is variable and minimally invasive, such that the disturbance of the investigated flow is prevented by the measurement technique itself.

  • Modular system that it is flexible in regards to component replacement and expansion
